The Vietnamese futsal team entered the clash with the Myanmar futsal team in the opening match of Group A of the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship with the goal of winning all 3 points to create an advantage in the semi-final race.
According to the schedule, coach Diego Giustozzi's team will meet Myanmar (April 6), Timor-Leste (April 7) and host Thailand (April 8) in the group stage of this year's tournament.
The 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship takes place from April 6 to 12 in Nonthaburi (Thailand) with the participation of 8 teams divided into two groups, in which the top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
Therefore, the opening match is considered to be of great significance for the Vietnamese futsal team in creating psychological momentum against direct competitors in Group A, especially the confrontation with host Thailand.
Before the tournament, coach Diego Giustozzi said that this is an important playground for the Vietnamese futsal team to accumulate experience and aim for a long-term goal of competing for a World Cup spot in the coming years.
He emphasized that the team has had positive improvements in competitive psychology as well as the way of operating the playing style in recent times.
In terms of force, the Vietnam futsal team continues to place its trust in experienced pillars such as Ho Van Y, Chau Doan Phat, Tu Minh Quang,... to ensure stability in their playing style.
With careful preparation before the tournament, the team is assessed to have many opportunities to achieve favorable results in the opening match, thereby creating a stepping stone towards the goal of competing for the top spot in the group.
