In the final, Yu Si Li defeated 20-year-old Vietnamese player Nguyen Dang Tuyen. Previously, in the quarter-final match that took place the same morning, Dang Tuyen won 9-8 against Pham Van Dinh after being down 3-6.
In the semi-finals, the 20-year-old player had a thrilling victory over the Filipino strongman Ruben Ampone with a score of 9-8, including a stunning ball jump in the final game. Meanwhile, Yu Si Li also showed his talent when he defeated Chu Viet Hoang and Assis Tadique (Philippines) to reach the final.
The final match of the qualifying round started off quite excitingly as the two players kept bringing the score to a balance. However, when the score was 2-2, Yu Si Li showed her superiority by winning 7 consecutive games to win 9-2.
Winning the championship, Yu Si Li received 130 million VND (5,000 USD) in prize money. As runner-up, Nguyen Dang Tuyen received 52 million VND (2,000 USD). The two third-place players, Assis Tadique and Ruben Ampone, received nearly 26 million VND (1,000 USD each). In addition, the players in the Top 8 received 450 USD each, and the players in the Top 16 received 150 USD each.
Thus, the Ho Chi Minh City Open 2024 qualifying round officially ended with the finding of the champion as well as 32 places in the final round.
The final round will officially start from September 25 - 29 at Ho Xuan Huong Stadium (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City). 128 players, including 96 players with official slots, including the world's top superstars and 32 players who passed the qualifying round, will compete, with the prize for the champion up to 35,000 USD (nearly 900 million VND). This is the largest prize in the history of Billiards Pool Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh City Open 2024 is organized by Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) and is sponsored by the famous Billiards brand Aplus, as well as recognized by 2 famous Billiards organizations: World Pool Billiards Federation (WPA) and Asian Billiards Sports Federation (ACBS). Players are scored on the WPA rankings.
