The tournament has good professional quality
Today (September 9) is the deadline for teams to register for the 2024 Asian Club Volleyball Championship.
Up to now, the organizing committee has not yet announced the official list of teams participating in the tournament. Most recently, the NEC Red Rockets club, the current champion of Japan's top volleyball tournament, has confirmed that it will be in Thailand to compete.
The Vietnam Volleyball Federation has registered the LPB Ninh Binh women's team to participate in the tournament. This is also the only representative of Vietnam to participate in the tournament which will start in Thailand from September 22.
Vietnam is the current champion of this tournament. Last year, the national women's team participated under the name Sport Center 1 and won the championship after defeating Diamond Food–Fine Chef (Thailand).
Journalist Nguyen Luu commented: "The 2024 Asian Club Volleyball Championship has a history of more than 20 years and has good professional quality. However, the balance of power and strength of the teams each year is often uneven because in each season, countries will send different representatives.
Vietnam has had the Information Corps, VTV Binh Dien Long An and soon LPB Ninh Binh as champions of the national championship. Meanwhile, the teams that regularly participate in the tournament are China (Shanghai team, Guangdong team), Thailand (Bangkonk Post, Nakhon Pasti teams), Indonesia...
I still highly appreciate the ability of the Thai teams. This is a strong opponent for other teams in the tournament, not just the representative of Vietnam."
Opportunity for LPB Ninh Binh
The Vietnam women's volleyball team has completed its international mission in 2024. The members have returned to their home team. Therefore, LPB Ninh Binh will participate in the Asian Club Championship with the strongest force, with all three players: Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Le Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Thi Trinh.
According to a player in the team, the registration list of the Ancient Capital team also includes a foreign player from Thailand - main striker Warisara Seetaloed.
"Bich Tuyen is a strong person. She will be the main explosive force of LPB Ninh Binh in the upcoming tournament. Besides Tuyen, there is strong support from two excellent middle blockers of the national team, Le Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Thi Trinh. Trinh has been playing steadily recently. Meanwhile, although she is 29 years old, Le Thanh Thuy is still intelligent, agile, and impressive at blocking the ball.
In addition, the team also has two talents, striker Dinh Thi Thuy and Warisara Seetaloed. The 19-year-old foreign player has the ability to play quite comprehensively, quickly absorbs the tactical ideas of coach Thai Thanh Tung, and deploys good attack plans.
However, LPB Ninh Binh has weaknesses in the two positions of setter and libero. When on the national team, setter Lam Oanh was very good at making the ball for hitters like Bich Tuyen, Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Thi Trinh. But when returning to the club, Ninh Binh's setter is not sure to meet the requirements in tactical ball situations. That is what this team needs to improve," journalist Nguyen Luu affirmed.
According to the regulations of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the team that wins the Asian Women's Club Championship will be granted a spot in the World Women's Club Championship. This is a difficult task for Bich Tuyen and her teammates.
Currently, LPB Ninh Binh has not set a specific goal, but according to team members, they are practicing hard, aiming to play well in each match in the tournament and trying to be in the top.
