LPB Ninh Binh Club has just finished the 2024 National Volleyball Championship with 3rd place. Coach Thai Thanh Tung and his team could not successfully defend their title when both champion VTV Binh Dien Long An and runner-up Hoa Chat Duc Giang had a strong transformation, showing more convincing form and playing style.
Although not achieving the highest ranking, Bich Tuyen and her teammates had the second phase and the final round of the national volleyball championship as a stepping stone, gaining experience and accumulating many lessons to prepare for the 2024 World Club Championship taking place this coming December in China.
LPB Ninh Binh and NEC Red Rockets (Japan) are the two Asian representatives participating in the world tournament at the end of 2024. According to the draw results of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), coach Thai Quang Lai's students are in Group B with Imoco Conegliano (Italy), Praia Clube (Brazil) and NEC Red Rockets (Japan).
This is a tough group for Vietnam's representative as the opponents are all top teams in the continent. NEC Red Rockets (Japan) once met Bich Tuyen and her teammates in the Vietnam women's volleyball team at the 2024 Asian Club Championship. In addition, the Ancient Capital team will face top stars such as Zhu Ting, Haak, Gabriela Guimaraes (Gabi); and face the world's number 1 team Imoco Conegliano.
Coach Thai Thanh Tung needs to make adjustments to his playing style to help his team make a mark in this arena. In addition, physical fitness also needs to be focused on. The players need to focus on recovery and regain their best physical condition.
One of the reasons why LPB Ninh Binh did not play well in the second stage of the recent national championship was because of the injury of the main setter Hoai Mi. This is an important link in the team's lineup. Hoai Mi is a calm player, coordinating the ball into range for the attackers such as Bich Tuyen, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy, Warisara... to score effectively.
In addition to the above-mentioned scorers, LPB Ninh Binh also has a new option when the middle blocker Luu Thi Hue has returned after an injury. She had an average performance in the second phase, especially in the semi-final match against VTV Binh Dien Long An and the third-place match against Xi Mang Long Son Thanh Hoa.
Luu Thi Hue shared: "After a period of absence from the field due to a serious injury, it was very difficult for me to return to competition. Luckily, I had the support of my teammates and I tried my best when given the opportunity to enter the field.
At the 2024 World Club Volleyball Championship, LPB Ninh Binh will meet a very strong team. This is an opportunity for my teammates and I to gain more experience, from which we will have more lessons to improve in the next tournaments in 2025."
Immediately after the end of the 2024 national championship, LPB Ninh Binh will have a short break, before returning, focusing 100% on physical and professional preparation, towards the world club tournament, scheduled to be held in China from December 16 to December 22, 2024.
