On the afternoon of December 6, Ly Hoang Nam entered the men's singles final at the 2025 Asian Hangzhou PPA Tour Open pickleball Tournament, facing Jack Wong. The match attracted attention because Hoang Nam has been in good form since switching to professional pickleball, while Jack Wong is considered one of the most experienced players in the region.
As soon as the match started, Jack Wong controlled the field better and quickly created a 4-point gap. However, being behind did not make Hoang Nam waver. The tennis player born in 1997 calmly adjusted her playing style, gradually reading the opponent's beat and scoring 4 points in a row to balance the game.
When regaining his confidence, Hoang Nam played more strongly, taking advantage of accurate dribbles to apply the reverse. He ended the first set with a 11-11 victory, creating an impressive comeback that the audience on the field had to praise.
In set 2, Jack Wong tried to regain his spirit, at one point shortening the score to 4-9 after a few accurate handling. During this period, Li Huangyan had some unnecessary fouls. However, his fighting spirit continued to be shown at the right time, quickly regaining control of the game and closing the set with a score of 11-4, thereby winning 2-0 overall.
This result not only helped Ly Hoang Nam be crowned at the 2025 Asian PPA Tour, but also marked the first PPA Tour title in his pickleball career.
This is an important milestone, proving the ability to adapt and affirming the new position of Vietnamese tennis players in the international arena.
