President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Madam Pang has written a letter of apology to fans after the Thai women's team could not participate in the 2026 Women's Asian Cup.

The 1-2 loss to India on the evening of July 5 in the final match of Group B of the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers caused the Thai women's team to lose all opportunities to participate in the finals and also lose the opportunity to compete for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.

Immediately after this match, Ms. Madam Pang wrote a letter expressing her regret and apologizing to Thai football fans.

"To all Thai football fans, this was the night I felt the most regretful and disappointed.

As the president of the Football Association of Thailand, I would like to apologize to Thai football fans nationwide for the Thai women's team losing to the Indian national team, causing us to be eliminated and unable to qualify for the next round in Australia next year.

This is a regrettable thing, and that means losing the hope of participating in the Women's World Cup in Brazil in 2027," Ms. Madam Pang wrote.

"My first assignment in football was to be a coach for the Thai women's team 18 years ago and it was successful. I was able to lead the Thai women's team to participate in 2 World Cups in Canada and France.

But today, as Chairman FAT and a person who always loves women's football, I am extremely disappointed with the performance of the Thai women's team. There will be no excuse from the Federation, from the coaching staff and all the players for this defeat," Chairman FAT added.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's team has created an impressive record when they won all 3 matches in the E group qualifiers, without conceding any goals. In the final match on July 5, the Vietnam women's team defeated Guam 4-0 and won a ticket to the 2026 Asian Cup Women's Championship finals in Australia

To encourage the spirit of the whole team, the Vietnam Football Federation has awarded 600 million VND and hopes that coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will continue to maintain their form in the upcoming tournaments.
