In the opening match of Group B of the 2024 Asian Volleyball Club Championship, LPB Ninh Binh (Vietnam) lost 0-3 to NEC Red Rockets (Japan). Facing a highly rated opponent, coach Thai Thanh Tung's team had many difficulties in deploying the ball to attack and could not create any surprises.
However, some individuals of the LPB Ninh Binh team still showed their mark. Besides captain Bich Tuyen, who scored the most points in the last match, foreign player Warisara Seetaloed was one of the bright spots in the squad of the team from Vietnam.
Warisara Seetaloed is a foreign player born in 2005, from Thailand. She has played for the defending champion LPB Ninh Binh since round 1 of the 2024 Volleyball Championship. Due to having had time to practice and compete, Warisara coordinates well with her teammates' play. This player also shows her flexibility in running on the field.
Despite her modest height of only 1m73, she has a 2m75 block and 2m84 jump. Being assigned by coach Thai Thanh Tung to play in her main attacking position helps the 19-year-old foreign player develop her ability to play quite comprehensively, quickly grasp the head coach's tactical ideas, and effectively implement attack plans.
According to statistics from the organizers, in the opening match, Warisara scored 6 points, achieving an efficiency of 28.57%. She ranked 3rd in the list of players with the most points for LPB Ninh Binh, behind Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen and Nguyen Thi Trinh. This has proven the mobility and dynamism of the 19-year-old foreign player in the LPB Ninh Binh shirt.
However, Warisara, Bich Tuyen or Nguyen Thi Trinh alone were not enough to help the Vietnamese representative create a surprise. The playing style of coach Thai Thanh Tung's team was inconsistent in many situations. In addition, the setters of the ancient capital team often passed the ball low, close to the net, preventing LPB Ninh Binh's hitters from having many sharp attacking situations.
Today (September 23), LPB Ninh Binh will face Monolith Sky Risers (Philippines) at 1:00 p.m. LPB Ninh Binh's opponent just won 3-1 against Saipa (Iran) in the opening match.
Monolith Sky Risers' squad consists of young players, born in 2001 or later. The most notable player of this team is Alyssa Solomon, who recently participated in VTV Cup 2024. This promises to be a remarkable rematch of Group B.
Against a team that is considered weaker, Bich Tuyen, Warisara and teammates are expected to have their first victory in this tournament.
