The 2025 National Swimming Championship was held again on the evening of October 7 at My Dinh (Hanoi) after postponing the morning due to the impact of heavy rain and flooding. When returning to competition, Nguyen Huy Hoang continued to win gold medals.
The final of the men's 800m freestyle distance had 9 athletes competing. Nguyen Huy Hoang (Quang Tri) was the leader right after starting despite being chased by Nguyen Quang Thuan (Army), Tran Van Nguyen Quoc (Da Nang), Mai Tran Tuan Anh (Army) and Do Ngoc Vinh (Hanoi).
At the end of the rounds, Nguyen Huy Hoang reached the first finish with a time of 8 minutes 02 seconds 54, winning the gold medal. This is Nguyen Huy Hoang's third gold medal at the 2025 National Championship. Previously, the athlete won the 400m freestyle and 1,500m freestyle distances.
Young player Nguyen Quang Thuan could not surpass his senior so he accepted second place with a time of 8 minutes 10 seconds 08. The third place belongs to Tran Van Nguyen Quoc (8 minutes 10 seconds 61).
The competition day also saw athlete Tran Hung Nguyen (Army) win the gold medal in the men's individual 200m mixed event (2 minutes 03 seconds 87). Also in second place was Nguyen Quang Thuan (2 minutes 04 seconds 88).
In addition, athlete Vo Thi My Tien (Tay Ninh) continued to win the gold medal in the women's individual 400m mixed event (4 minutes 47 seconds9) and the women's 800m freestyle (8 minutes 50 seconds 44).
The 2025 National Swimming Championship will continue to be contested until October 9.
