At the end of the 2025 Asian Swimming Championship in India, the Vietnamese swimmers won 2 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 6 bronze medals to rank 4th overall.
The two gold medals of the Vietnam Swimming Team went to Nguyen Huy Hoang at the 800m freestyle and 1,500m freestyle distances. Currently, the athletes who have just competed in the 2025 Asian Championship are an important member preparing for the 33rd SEA Games.
This is the first time the Vietnamese Swimming Team has won a gold medal in the men's event at the continental championship. Nguyen Huy Hoang has won medals at the ASIAD, won the Asian championship, and won an official position at the Olympics and SEA Games. Therefore, the swimmer from Quang Tri is the most prominent face in the men's events that Vietnamese swimming has ever won.
In history, the first male player to ever win a medal in the international arena of the Vietnam Swimming Team was Truong Ngoc Tuan (singer medal in the men's 200m relay event, SEA Games in 2003). Nguyen Huy Hoang is the first male athlete to win the Asian championship.
Previously, athlete Nguyen Thi Anh Vien was the first Vietnamese swimmer to win a gold medal at the Asian Championship. She won the gold medal in the women's individual 400m mixed event at the 2016 Asian Championship.
After the tournament in India, the players will return to their home team to continue competing in the 2025 National Championship held from October 4 to October 14.
