According to the schedule, Hoang Nguyen Thanh and Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa will move to Japan on February 25th to soon get acquainted with the Tokyo Marathon 2026 competition venue. The Tokyo Marathon 2026 will be held on March 1. According to experts, the Tokyo Marathon belongs to the system of prestigious competitions (Major Marathon) of the world including Tokyo Marathon – Japan, Boston Marathon – USA, London Marathon – UK, Sydney Marathon – Australia, Berlin Marathon – Germany, Chicago Marathon – USA, New York Marathon – USA.
In 2025, athlete Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa competed in this tournament and achieved a time of 2 hours 46 minutes 55 seconds.
Hoang Nguyen Thanh and Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa are the top 2 athletes of Vietnam's marathon at the present time. Last year, both participated in SEA Games 33 but did not win a medal.
In Thailand, Hoang Nguyen Thanh finished 4th while Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa retired in the marathon – 42km event.
Also last year, Hoang Nguyen Thanh won a gold medal in the men's marathon – 42km event at the 2025 National Championship with a result of 2 hours 32 minutes 24 seconds. Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa won the women's marathon – 42km event with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes 10 seconds.
This year, the National Marathon 2026 Championship will take place at the end of March in Khanh Hoa. After the Tokyo Marathon 2026, Nguyen Thanh and Ngoc Hoa will definitely participate in the national tournament.
