The Asian Boat Racing Federation will host the Canoeing Pre-ASIAD 20 in Japan from April 16 to April 19.
This is an important competition program to help rowers grasp the competition venue as well as opponents.
According to the plan, Vietnamese boat racing can send forces to participate in the tournament to best prepare professionally for ASIAD 20. The number one female athlete of Vietnamese canoeing, Nguyen Thi Huong, is expected to participate in the tournament.
Nguyen Thi Huong competed in SEA Games 33 in Thailand, winning 4 gold medals (2 canoeing gold medals, 2 traditional boat racing gold medals). This rower has returned to training after the Tet holiday. Currently, the Vietnamese canoeing team is training at the boat racing training point in Thuy Nguyen (Hai Phong).
Nguyen Thi Huong used to compete in ASIAD 19 in China but has not won a medal. Therefore, the Vietnamese canoeing team will prepare the best professionally for the athletes to find opportunities to achieve high results at ASIAD 20.
Last year, Nguyen Thi Huong won 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal at the 2025 Asian Canoeing Championships. Many rowers participating in the above tournament are leading athletes in Asia in canoeing competitions.
In the 19th ASIAD, the Vietnamese canoeing team did not win a medal.
