On the afternoon of August 10 at the 2025 National Athletics Championship, athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh won the gold medal in the women's 1,500m event. She won with a time of 4 minutes 16 seconds 97. She successfully defended her gold medal in the event at last year's tournament.
The achievement recorded Oanh winning the national championship for the 7th consecutive time. Nguyen Thi Oanh shared: I am very grateful for the encouragement from the audience. The 7th national championship in the 1,500m event gives me new motivation".
Also on today's competition day, a surprise occurred when national athlete Nguyen Tien Trong (distance dancing) failed to win a gold medal. This athlete achieved a result of 7m63, so she received a bronze medal. The gold medal went to Pham Xuan Tien (Ho Chi Minh City) with a result of 7m76. The silver medal result was Pham Van Nghia (An Giang, 7m69).
The competition day witnessed two exciting competitions: men's 4x400m and women's 4x400m relay. The Ha Tinh men's 4x400m relay team (Nguyen Van Duc, Tran Dinh Son, Tran Van Vu, Le Ngoc Phuc) won the gold medal with a time of 3 minutes 06 seconds 72. The Hanoi team (Nguyen Kim Ngoc, Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh) won the gold medal in the women's 4x400m relay with a result of 3 minutes 38 seconds 87.
Meanwhile, athlete Huynh Thi My Tien (Dong Nai) continued to successfully win the women's 100m hurdles. She reached 13 seconds 52, defending her championship title from 2024.
