She shared: "This is the 19th consecutive time I have won the national championship in the 20km walking event. Every time I win, I have my own emotions. I am not yet motivated to conquer new achievements.
I keep the goal of winning the 20th gold medal. Next year, I will attend the 2025 National Sports Festival. In addition, Thanh Phuc affirmed that she will strive to compete in the 33rd SEA Games to defend the gold medal she holds in the women's 20km walking event.
This year, Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc is one of the oldest athletes at the 2025 National Athletics Championship. She is 35 years old.
Thanh Phuc's joy was doubled when his younger brother Nguyen Thanh Ngung won the gold medal in men's 20km walk at the tournament. Thanh Ngung finished first with a time of 1 hour 30 minutes 37 seconds.
The Vietnam Athletics Team will review the 20km walking force for men and women to supplement training after this year's national tournament.
