Nguyen Thuy Linh won a spot to compete in the women's singles event of the 2026 Asian Championship. The competition program will be held in China from April 7 to April 12.
Nguyen Thuy Linh is in the top 30 of the women's individual rankings of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). Therefore, she was awarded an official spot and is also the only Vietnamese badminton player to participate in the women's singles event.
In the men's singles event, Vietnamese badminton has Nguyen Hai Dang who is qualified for the 2026 Asian Championship. Other faces of ours who are qualified for the above tournament are Pham Thi Khanh, Pham Thi Dieu Ly (women's doubles), Nguyen Dinh Hoang, Tran Dinh Manh (men's doubles), Phan Van Truong, Bui Bich Phuong (men's and women's doubles).
The award of slots to athletes is considered based on many criteria, in which ranking in the world rankings is the leading indicator for the Asian Badminton Federation to make decisions.
Thus, the Vietnamese badminton team is fully participating in all events in this year's tournament. The 2026 Asian Championship is expected to attract top continental faces to participate and many of these players will participate in ASIAD 20.
Currently, Nguyen Thuy Linh is implementing a competition program in Europe. The remaining players have just participated in the tournament in Singapore.
