Every team is determined
This year's men's tournament only has nine teams participating (Sanest Khanh Hoa, Bien Phong, The Cong Tan Cang, Ha Tinh, LPBank Ninh Binh, Lavie Long An, Hanoi, Da Nang, SXKT Vinh Long) and the two teams with the lowest results will be relegated.
“The women’s event has shown that the results from the first stage to the second stage are very different. Therefore, the men’s teams have learned from their experiences to prepare most carefully, not to make any mistakes in the results,” said a representative of the professional supervision department of the men’s event.
On November 20, the final preparations were completed. The teams attended the technical meeting before the competition, agreeing on the professional work that the organizing committee proposed to organize the tournament.
After research, the coaching staff of the 9 teams are determined to achieve the best results. The Hanoi men's team is the only team that does not add foreign players, however, the team leader - Mr. Bui Dinh Loi said: "We focus on the technical aspect, hoping that the players will compete with the highest spirit. The team has the goal of staying in the league this time."
The Ha Tinh men's team did not have good results in the first stage, so they focused on preparing for the second stage. Coach Tran Dang Thanh of the team confirmed that the players are in high spirits and will not miss any opportunity to score points and secure a safe position.
Meanwhile, the LPBank Ninh Binh men's team is the only team that has sent all of its players to Thailand for training to prepare for the competition. Head coach Bui Trung Thao of the team confirmed that in this second phase, the team has enough key players, the players are in high spirits and are confident of achieving the set results.
Besides them, Sanest Khanh Hoa, Border Guard, The Cong Tan Cang or Da Nang were quite secretive about their recent professional preparation. The most common point is that no one wants to fall into the situation of having to play in the "reverse final" to find a place to stay in the league, so they are determined to win their remaining matches.
Fierce competition
The Sanest Khanh Hoa men's team is the current national champion. In this second stage, coach Bui Quang Ngoc's team continues to receive predictions from experts as a potential candidate to enter the semi-finals.
Not excluding, Sanest Khanh Hoa still won a place in the final. In the second stage, Sanest Khanh Hoa's squad strengthened with foreign player Evandro Dias Souza (Brazil) and this was the spearhead that helped the team win the final match of last year's tournament (overcoming Border Guard).
“The men’s event always has its own appeal, the moves are strong, the players compete fiercely. Therefore, predicting which team will win is not easy. However, over many seasons, we have seen that the team that maintains mental stability and has cohesion among the players will certainly succeed.
Furthermore, this year is the last year before the tournament has only 8 men's teams participating in the national championship, so we understand that no team wants to be relegated," said Mr. Dao Xuan Chung, representative of the volleyball department (Department of Physical Education and Sports).
In the last 10 seasons, before this year's tournament (since 2014), the teams that won the national championship were The Cong Tan Cang (2 times), Ho Chi Minh City (3 times, currently playing in the A division), LPBank Ninh Binh (2 times), Sanest Khanh Hoa (3 times).
There have been many cases of men's champions successfully defending their titles the following season. However, no team has ever achieved the feat of winning the national championship three seasons in a row. Some teams have only achieved the feat of winning the championship two seasons in a row.
After the first stage of the men's content of the 2024 National Volleyball Championship, the 4 teams temporarily leading in points are Sanest Khanh Hoa, Bien Phong, The Cong Tan Cang, Da Nang. The tournament is being played in a round-robin format, any team that is not focused can still easily fall into the group that loses the chance to reach the semi-finals.
At the end of the women's event at Lao Cai Stadium (November 17), a representative of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation said that it is expected that in the 2025 season, the round-robin format in the group stage will still be implemented for the men's and women's events. Teams that have become familiar with this format this year are no longer confused.
The second phase of the men's content of the 2024 National Volleyball Championship will take place from November 21 to December 1 at the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Gymnasium. There will be 16 top matches in the group stage that continue to be held. By December 1, fans will know exactly which team will be crowned champion of this year's tournament.
