The Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Vietnam Chess Federation officially organize the Coolmate-2026 National Chess Championship Cup, which will be held from March 7 to March 16.
This year, 225 chess players from 20 units across the country are present in Hai Phong to compete in groups for rapid chess, blitz chess, super blitz chess, standard chess and ASEAN chess. According to regulations, the events will compete in 9 rounds according to the Swiss system.
Representatives of the Vietnam Chess Federation said that this year's tournament has many leading international grandmasters of Vietnamese chess participating, including Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, Le Tuan Minh, Tran Tuan Minh, Dao Thien Hai, Pham Le Thao Nguyen, Vo Thi Kim Phung, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung, Luong Phuong Hanh.
Young chess players with qualifications also participate in the competition such as Bang Gia Huy, Dau Khuong Duy, Pham Tran Gia Phuc, Nguyen Quoc Hy, Dinh Nho Kiet, Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong, Nguyen Binh Vy.... Therefore, the National Chess Championship Coolmate-2026 Cup promises to have high professional quality.
However, the competition results are not counted in the achievements of the X-2026 National Sports Games. Chess will host the program at the Games in December in Ho Chi Minh City.
On the first day of the tournament, the men's rapid chess and women's rapid chess tables took place first. In the men's rapid chess table after the first 3 games, player Nguyen Vuong Tung Lam (Hanoi) temporarily has 3 points to lead.
In the women's rapid chess table after the first 3 games, player Nguyen Thi Mai Hung (HCMC) also achieved 3 points and temporarily ranked first. Players will play 9 games in the rapid chess event.
