Closing the group stage of ASIAD 20, Pham Quynh Huong has a total of 46 points after 3 matches.
The 18-year-old female lead scored 15 points against Qatar, 14 points when facing Hong Kong (China) and 17 points in the match against South Korea.
This achievement helped her lead in points in the group stage, surpassing many names in Asian women's volleyball such as Sohwi (South Korea, 43 points) or Zhuang Yushan (China, 33 points), Chatchu-On and Sasipaporn (Thailand) with 35 and 34 points respectively.
Besides, the Vietnamese team also has 2 players in the group with the highest scores. Bich Thuy scored 38 points (3rd place), and Tra My had 30 points (10th place).

Notably, this is only the first time Quynh Huong has participated in ASIAD. Before the tournament in Japan, the 1m85 tall main hitter once scored 46 points at the Asian Championship and entered the group of 15 players with the best scoring results.
Quynh Huong having more opportunities to compete at ASIAD 20 also creates conditions for this young player to develop his attacking ability. In the context that Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is used a lot in the first step and defense, Quynh Huong takes on the role of scoring points for the team.
However, the performance in the group stage also showed the problems that the 18-year-old main attacker needs to improve. The first pass ability is not really stable, especially in the match against South Korea when the opponent actively serves the ball towards Quynh Huong's position.
Fitness is also a factor that Quynh Huong needs to improve in the near future. However, with a height of 1m85, attacking ability and scoring efficiency shown right in her first ASIAD appearance, she has more basis to compete for a position in the Vietnamese women's national team squad.
At the age of 18, Quynh Huong still has a lot of time to improve her skills, especially step one and ability to maintain performance in high-intensity matches.
