Participating in the world championship for the first time, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team aims to compete, learn and be able to make an impression against top opponents.

Today (8.23), the Vietnam women's volleyball team will officially enter the journey at the 2025 FIVB World Championships - a prestigious playground for the top national teams in the continent. This is also the first time coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team have appeared in a high-class tournament.

In fact, the Vietnamese women's team competed in the FIVB Challenge Cup in 2023 and 2024 to compete with strong European teams. However, the expertise and harshness of the above tournament cannot be compared to the FIVB World Championships.

In the world championship, Thanh Thuy and her teammates will have the opportunity to face high-class teams such as Poland, Germany... or directly witness the performances of Italy, Serbia..., through which we will determine how high their level is to continue to practice and develop, towards the upcoming integration journey.

Faced with fierce competition and appearing for the first time in a major tournament, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has set a suitable goal for the national team.

With the main goal of competing, learning from the top teams and demonstrating a brave competitive spirit, the Vietnamese team is determined to make memorable impressions at the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship, said a VFV representative.

In fact, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has been carefully prepared before participating in the world tournament. Since the beginning of the year, in addition to competing in the national championship to maintain their form, athletes have also participated in many consecutive domestic and international tournaments such as Hoa Lu Cup, Hung Vuong Cup, VTV Cup, AVC Nations Cup or most recently SEA V.League 2025.

The AVC Nations Cup championship and the second stage of the SEA V.League are an important stepping stone for the Vietnam women's team to add motivation for their performances at the highest level.

"The Vietnamese team is currently ranked 22nd in the world rankings, just a little higher than Kenya. Earlier this year, Vietnam won the AVC Nations Cup for the third consecutive time. Less than two weeks ago, they also won a historic gold medal at a tournament in the Southeast Asian Women's Volleyball Championship (SEA V.League).

However, the most valuable player of both tournaments, opposite Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, will not go to Phuket with the Vietnam team. However, the team will have the participation of excellent members such as attacking players Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, middle blocker Tran Thi Bich Thuy or libero Nguyen Khanh Dang", FIVB homepage highly appreciated the Vietnam women's volleyball team on the homepage.

Recently, the Vietnam women's team had a friendly match with Kenya - a team in Group G at the world tournament. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team won easily with a score of 4-0. Therefore, the Vietnamese women's team can think of a favorable result against this opponent in the upcoming tournament.

The biggest challenge for Thanh Thuy and her teammates is the matches against Poland and Germany. These two teams are ranked 3rd and 11th respectively on the world rankings, and possess a squad of high-quality, good-skills players. Through these matches, the most important goal of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is to learn and rub shoulders to gain experience for themselves.
