The Vietnamese table tennis team has 2 representatives who competed in the 2025 WTT Contender World Cup in Almaty (Kazakhstan) but did not win any medals.
The tournament will close on the evening of September 7 local time. Nguyen Anh Tu was able to participate in the men's singles qualifying round but lost to opponent Evgeny Tikhonov in the first match with a score of 1-3 so he was eliminated. Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh entered the second match of the women's singles qualifying round but lost 0-3 to opponent Asel Erkebaeva (Uzbekistan).
In the mixed doubles event, Nguyen Anh Tu and Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh lost 0-3 to Korean tennis player Park Gyuhyeon and Kim Nayeong in the first match of the official round.
The WTT Contender tournament is considered a tournament in the Grand Slam system of the World Table Tennis Federation (WTT). Players will participate based on their rankings when registering to compete in each event.
The Vietnamese table tennis team has not yet gathered in 2025, however, Nguyen Anh Tu and Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh were sent to Kazakhstan to compete from socialized sources.
Last year, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh won the gold medal in the women's singles at the 2024 Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championship while Nguyen Anh Tu won the silver medal in the men's singles.
This year, these two athletes will prepare professionally to participate in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December. Anh Tu entered the final of the 32nd SEA Games men's singles in Cambodia but only won a silver medal while Dieu Khanh received a bronze medal in the women's singles at the above Congress.
