Up to this point, no national sports team of Vietnam has registered to officially list athletes participating in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33), scheduled to be held in Thailand at the end of this year.
Currently, the teams are entering the final force review stage with caution and a careful strategy to ensure maximum competition efficiency.
At this time, many teams have a good grasp of the quantity and competition content of their sports at the 33rd SEA Games. On that basis, the coaching staff of each sport has planned to build forces, classify athletes, and organize training sessions at home and abroad.
It is expected that in September, the teams will finalize the preliminary registration list. This is also the time when the SEA Games Organizing Committee requires member countries to send official information.
According to the representative of the High Performance Sports Department (Department of Physical Education and Sports), the Vietnamese sports delegation plans to send 971 members to compete in Thailand (including 158 members participating with socialized funding).
The list of key sports expected to win gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games is athletics, swimming, weightlifting, shooting, gymnastics, weightlifting, taekwondo, karate, boxing, rowing (canoeing, rowing, traditional boating)... In addition, martial arts such as judo, muay, jujitsu, pencak silat, boxing, wushu are also considered to be highly competitive with opponents in the region.
In the group of collective sports such as men's and women's football, indoor volleyball, 3x3 basketball, tennis, and cloud football, it is also part of the plan to strive for gold medals.
In particular, this preparation is being kept secret by the sports industry, avoiding making too early public the forces and professional strategies. This is a move to show caution, avoiding being studied by opponents.
The achievement target of Vietnamese sports at the 33rd SEA Games is to strive to win from 80 to 100 gold medals to maintain a position in the top 3 of the whole delegation. This is a challenging goal when host Thailand will make the most of their home field advantage, while Indonesia, the Philippines or Malaysia also have strong investments.
