On June 20, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) held a meeting on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 2525 - June 21, 2025). This is an annual activity to express gratitude for the contributions of journalists and reporters to Vietnamese football.
Here, information about the organization plan for the 2025-2026 season received much attention, especially in the context of merging 63 to 34 provinces and cities.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc - General Director of VPF said that there may be a few provinces and cities that will merge the football team. He said: "According to the resolution of the VFF 2024 congress, V.League 2025-2026 has 14 teams. VPF has completed the competition plan for next season.
With the number of teams as approved by the congress. The match schedule has worked with clubs. This year's season is not over yet, professional information has been grasped".

"This year, with the merger, there are still 34 provinces and cities that will likely have some localities with plans to merge football teams. We will grasp the reality in a timely manner and have a plan, a competition schedule, and promotion and relegation tickets to submit to competent authorities. Before the ball rolls, all information and plans will be guaranteed," Mr. Ngoc added.
Also during the meeting, VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu also said that VFF welcomed the women's teams to support foreign players and overseas Vietnamese players. However, like men's football, Mr. Tu said he would not naturalize female players in large numbers.

Women's football is like men's football, the policy of training at level 1, promoting the national championship. National Women's Football Championship. We think and calculate how to change the structure of the women's tournament.
Ho Chi Minh City women's football is taking the lead in using foreign players of Vietnamese origin. Hopefully, other clubs will consider using players of Vietnamese origin.
In the near future, AFC will proceed to license the women's club. We must request a license and be granted it to be able to participate in the Asian tournament. VFF must speed up that work.
The naturalization and use of players of Vietnamese origin will be strived, with naturalization, and reasonable supplementation. We cannot run massively to affect domestic tournaments, said Mr. Tu.
