The 2026 National Youth Judo Championship has officially closed after many days of competition at the Thanh Hoa Provincial Sports Complex.
The tournament is organized by the Vietnam Judo Federation in coordination with the Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, gathering nearly 700 athletes from 19 provinces, cities and sectors across the country. The martial artists compete in 90 events belonging to 4 age groups including 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-19.
Regarding the results, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation topped the medal standings with 15 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 28 bronze medals.
In which, the group of athletes from 10 to 15 years old contributed 7 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 18 bronze medals. In the age group of 16-19, the team won 8 more gold medals, 4 silver medals and 10 bronze medals, thereby continuing to affirm the quality of youth training of the unit.
Host Thanh Hoa ranked second with 14 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 20 bronze medals. Young martial artists from the locality competed prominently in the 10-15 age group when winning 8 gold medals to lead this age group. Meanwhile, the 16-19 age group brought in 6 more gold medals.
Bac Ninh ranked third overall with 8 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 5 bronze medals. The team's achievements were evenly divided between the two age groups when each group contributed 4 gold medals.
Assessing this tournament, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Judo Federation said: "This is the tournament that attracts the largest number of athletes participating to date, affirming the strong development of Judo in provinces, cities, and industries across the country.
In terms of movement, Ho Chi Minh City is still the leading locality in the judo movement nationwide. In addition, the tournament also recognized localities with strong development such as Thanh Hoa, Bac Ninh, Dong Nai, Lam Dong, Thai Nguyen, Ministry of Public Security... Units still maintained relatively good movement such as Quan Doi, Can Tho, Hai Phong, Dong Thap.
In terms of expertise, the coaches of the teams are mostly grown up from the national team, so the training is methodical, young athletes participating in the tournament have expertise, and the quality of the tournament is improved”.
