The inability to stay in the V.League after the 2024-2025 season has caused the team from the land of Vo to fall into a crisis and face the possibility of having to stop operations in the near future.
According to Lao Dong, 3 options for the future of the team are being considered. The first option is to continue participating in the First Division with a maintained budget of about 30 billion VND per season. The second option is to merge with Hoang Anh Gia Lai club, after the two provinces of Binh Dinh and Gia Lai officially merged administratively from today (July 1).
If they cannot implement any of the above plans, the possibility of the team being dissolved is almost inevitable.
Binh Dinh's relegation has led to a big change in the squad. A series of players who were pillars are being allowed to find new destinations. Among them were Vu Minh Tuan, Mac Hong Quan, Huynh Tuan Linh, Luc Xuan Hung, Pham Duc Huy and captain Cao Van Trien.
In recent years, Binh Dinh has been considered a notable phenomenon in Vietnamese football when receiving strong investment from sponsors. More than 300 billion VND has been poured into the team to recruit players and aim to compete for the national championship.
However, great ambitions cannot save a group lacking in stability. Success only came in the 2023-2024 season, when the home team at Quy Nhon Stadium won the runner-up position with the brilliant performance of many quality foreign and domestic players. But everything quickly collapsed when the squad began to weaken and there was no longer enough competitive strength.
In the just ended season, Binh Dinh had a time to gain an advantage in the relegation race but lost their form at an important stage. The failure in both direct confrontations with Da Nang made the situation unfavorable. Despite having draws with The Cong Viettel and Thanh Hoa, those results were not enough to help the team improve their position. In the final round, losing 2-4 to Hanoi while Da Nang won all 3 points against Song Lam Nghe An officially pushed Binh Dinh down.
If they cannot appear in the First Division next season, this will be a sad time for the journey of a team that once aspired to rise in Central football.
