Immediately after the end of the journey at VTV Cup 2025, the Vietnam women's volleyball team will continue to participate in the Shanghai Future Stars international friendly tournament in China. This is not only a team testing tournament but also a springboard to prepare for long-term goals in the coming time.
The tournament took place from July 13 to 19 at Luwan Stadium, Shanghai with the participation of 8 youth teams and national teams from strong volleyball backgrounds. The Vietnam team is in Group A, competing with the Chinese U21 team, the French youth team and the Brazilian U21 Bauru club. Group B includes Shanghai U21, Canada Youth Team, Netherlands and Slovenia.
Compared to the participation in 2024 - when the team finished in 5th place, this comeback brings many notable changes. Most notably, the team did not bring a starting lineup, instead a force of many young faces, reserve or in the process of accumulating international competition experience.
This is a calculation by the coaching staff, to reduce the pressure on the pillars who have been competing continuously at the AVC Nations Cup and VTV Cup, while keeping the pace of preparation for the two stages of the SEA V.League and the world championship in Thailand taking place in August.

Under the leadership of head coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa - the former legendary captain of Vietnamese women's volleyball, along with Philippine fitness expert Karl Lim and assistant coach Nguyen Ngoc Dung, the team hopes to have a successful tournament.
Although not the strongest force, the Vietnamese team still possesses potential names such as Bich Thuy, Kieu Trinh, Pham Thi Hien, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Kim Thoa or Nguyen Thi Uyen. These are all players who have performed well in the national team jersey in tournaments since the beginning of 2025.
Bringing the second team to Shanghai does not mean giving up achievements. Most likely, the goal of the whole team is to improve the ranking compared to last year, while evaluating the performance and competitive spirit of each position in international competition conditions.
In the context of an increasingly dense international competition schedule, having a suitable next-generation force to replace and rotate is a very important factor.
It can be said that Shanghai Future Stars 2025 is a valuable opportunity for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to check in detail the players when they compete with representatives from Europe, South America, and East Asia. Each match is a test for the players.
The whole team is practicing physical strength in Quang Ninh. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa and her team are preparing everything, ready to go to China to participate in the tournament with the highest goal.
