The coaching staff of the Vietnamese athletics team has carefully considered professional matters, thereby deciding not to register athletes to compete in the 2026 Asian Athletics Championships.
This year's race will be held on February 21 (the 5th day of Tet) on the racetrack in Fukuoka (Japan).
According to regulations at the 2026 Asian Cross-country Championships, athletes are allowed to participate in the U20 women's event with a distance of 6km and the U20 men's event with a distance of 8km at the tournament. For the championship event, male athletes will compete in 10km and female athletes also have the same distance.
The Asian Athletics Championship is an annual athletics tournament organized by the Asian Athletics Federation. In 2024, the Vietnamese athletics team participated in the tournament for the first time with a squad including Le Van Thao (10km men's), Bui Thi Thu Ha (10km women's), Luong Xuan Son, Nguyen Hoang Thinh (8km U20 men's) Dinh Thi Huong, Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh (6km U20 women's).
Currently, the players of the Vietnam Athletics Team are preparing to end the 2026 Tet holiday to return to professional training this weekend.
Before the Tet holiday, the Vietnamese athletics team competed in the first international tournament, the 2026 Asian Indoor Championships in China.
3 athletes Nguyen Thi Oanh, Bui Thi Kim Anh, Duong Thi Thao competed here but did not win medals.
