Nguyen Thi Oanh ranked 7th in the 1,500m event at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships

Nguyen Thi Oanh has not won a medal in the first competition event at the 2026 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships.

On February 6th, the first events at the 2026 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships officially took place in China and Nguyen Thi Oanh participated.

Nguyen Thi Oanh is the only representative of Vietnam to participate in the women's 1,500m final. The event has 10 athletes participating.

Although she started well to be in the leading group, Nguyen Thi Oanh did not achieve her best speed, so she finished 7th with a time of 4 minutes 27 seconds 53.

3 years ago, Nguyen Thi Oanh won a gold medal in the women's 1,500m event at the 2023 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships with a time of 4 minutes 15 seconds 55. Unfortunately, in this year's competition, she did not have a medal in the event.

1. 500m is Nguyen Thi Oanh's forte event. However, she did not compete in the above event at SEA Games 33 due to focusing her expertise on the 5,000m, 10,000m and 3,000m hurdles events.

The 2026 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships lasts until the end of February 8. 2. Nguyen Thi Oanh also participates in the women's 3,000m event and this is also her forte distance. After SEA Games 33, the competition in China is Nguyen Thi Oanh's first international tournament in 2026.

This year, she will have many international missions with Vietnamese athletics, including ASIAD 20.

At the 2026 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, the Vietnamese athletics team also has Bui Thi Kim Anh and Duong Thi Thao participating in the women's high jump event.
