The 2026 World Muay Championships closed the finals late on September 10 local time in Kosovo.
The Vietnamese muay team participated with 26 martial artists, winning 20 medals including 9 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals to lead the overall team.
The achievement of 9 gold medals comes from the competition results of Nguyen Thi Chieu (57kg, U24 women's), Duong Duc Bao (48kg, U24 men's), Le Khanh Linh (women's wai kru), Hoang Khanh Mai (45kg, U24 women's), Nguyen Hoang Son (men's wai kru), Duong Duc Bao (mai muay), Dinh Thi Hoa (mai muay, U24 women's), Nguyen Hoang Minh (mai muay, U24 men's) and Huynh Ha Huu Hieu in the women's 45kg championship category.
Huynh Ha Huu Hieu's achievement is the only gold medal of the Vietnamese Muay Team in the championship combat weight classes at the 2026 World Championships.
Muay is not in the ASIAD 20 program. Therefore, the 2026 World Championship is one of the last international competition programs this year for Vietnamese martial artists.
In the overall standings, second after the Vietnamese team is Turkey (7 gold medals, 6 silver medals, 7 bronze medals) and third place is Kazakhstan team (7 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 4 bronze medals).
In this tournament, the Thai Muay Team did not participate.
