Against an opponent who was considered much weaker, coach Mai Duc Chung proactively saved the strength of a series of pillars such as Hoang Thi Loan, Chuong Thi Kieu, Kim Thanh, Hai Yen and Huynh Nhu by letting them on the bench from the beginning of the match.
However, with home advantage, the Vietnamese team quickly pushed up their formation after the opening whistle, creating continuous pressure on the opponent's field. In the 7th minute, Minh Chuyen broke through on the right wing and shot from a narrow angle. Defender Maldives tried to block but the ball bounced out, creating an opportunity for Van Su to rush in to head the opening goal.
Just 4 minutes later, from a corner kick on the left wing, Van Su continued to make his mark when receiving the ball on the edge of the penalty area and shot dangerously into the far corner, raising the score to 2-0. In the 14th minute, Maldives' defense was confused in the high ball situation, allowing Bich Thuy to finish close to the goal, scoring the third goal.

In the 25th minute, Nguyen Thi Van received a cross from the left wing, controlled the ball and then fired a shot to increase the gap to 4 goals. Five minutes later, My Anh took advantage of the situation where the ball bounced out of Bich Thuy's shot to score the fifth goal.
After this table, coach Mai Duc Chung started to adjust the personnel when taking My Anh and Nguyen Thi Van off, bringing Nguyen Thi Hoa and Thai Thi Thao onto the field.
Before the end of the first half, Minh Chuyen continued to leave his mark with a sprint in front of the goalkeeper and a cool finish into the far corner, sealing the score at 6-0 after the first 45 minutes.
The team experiment with the trio Van Su - Bich Thuy - Minh Chuyen in the first half brought many positive signals, when all 3 directly scored or created dangerous opportunities.
Entering the second half, coach Mai Duc Chung continued to strengthen the fair play by bringing Huynh Nhu and Hai Yen onto the field. However, against Maldives' deep defense, the Vietnamese team only scored one more goal thanks to Hai Yen, ending the match with a 7-0 victory.
Despite playing with the weakest squad, the Vietnamese women's team still won with a large margin without conceding a goal. However, this result is not considered too impressive if placed in the context of the historical confrontation. Previously, the Vietnam women's team defeated this opponent with a score of 14-0 and 16-0.
