Phase 1 of SEA V.League 2025 has ended with the championship belonging to the Thai women's volleyball team, after a narrow 3-2 victory over the Vietnamese women's team.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team have every right to regret having led their opponents twice but lost the reverse and finished as runner-up.
Speaking after the dramatic match, Thai athlete Pimpichaya Kokkram shared: "I am very tired. We have played 5 sets so we are tired, that is normal. But before the match against Vietnam, I had rested.
I am ready to continue competing in Ninh Binh (Vietnam) next week in the second round of the 2025 SEA V.League".
In phase 1, the Thai women's team played at home, so they received great support from fans of the land of the Golden Temple. However, in the second phase, they will compete in Ninh Binh and this is considered a big advantage for the Vietnam women's team.
In particular, the defending champion will have to face the pressure from the cheers and drums of Vietnamese fans.
"I don't think that's too worrying. We can handle this situation. We need to control ourselves first," Pimpichaya emphasized.
Opposite Pimpichaya was voted the Outstanding Comprehensive Player in the first phase of SEA V.League 2025 with impressive performances and high performance.
In addition, 3 other Thai players were also awarded individual awards: Ajcharaporn - Best Striker, Thatdao - Best Middle Blocker, Pornpun - Best Setter.
