Finding opportunities to improve
The 2025 World Tools Championship will continue to compete until October 25 in Indonesia, however, Vietnamese athletes will soon finish their competition after the qualifying round of events. National team players Nguyen Van Khanh Phong, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien, Dinh Phuong Thanh, Do Nam Anh and Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu were eliminated in turn, not making it to the finals.
The squad participating in the 2025 World Championship is the athletes with the best expertise of the current Vietnamese figure skating Team. With professional experience, Vietnamese gymnastics experts understand that our athletes are still far ahead of many opponents in the world.
There are many reasons to explain why Vietnamese athletes have not been able to reach world standards. The key is to invest and create opportunities for players to compete and train in many international tournaments to be able to develop their skills well. In the past 5-6 years, with not many resources, the Vietnamese gymnastics equipment team rarely sent players for long-term training abroad. All players are training domestically. The coaching staff is forced to implement the plan to participate in a number of international tournaments as a training course for players to accumulate more.
Every year, the World Federation of Sports (FIG) organizes many international tournaments under different systems for men and women. However, we have to choose a suitable tournament according to the funding source, then send players to participate. This year alone, the Vietnamese gymnastics team will only participate in 4 international tournaments including the FIG World Challenge Cup 2025 in Bulgaria (May), the 2025 Asian Championship (June) in Korea, the 2025 World Championship in Indonesia and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
The Head of the Men's Professional category of the Vietnam Sports Federation - Mr. Bui Dinh Cuong once expressed at the 2025 National Championship that: "Vietnamese athletes are trained with the best guidance from coaches, but clearly if there are opportunities to compete to improve their skills, athletes will have more opportunities to accumulate and perfect their movements".
The 33rd SEA Games will not be easy
The Vietnamese gymnastics team received the goal of winning the Gold Medal at the 33rd SEA Games. Evaluating the opportunity to compete for medals at the 33rd SEA Games, in charge of the Department of Physical Education (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) - Mr. Bui Trung Thien once said: "Vietnamese athletes will strive to ensure the best performance during the competition. The competition at the SEA Games is fierce and not easy".
From the 2025 Asian Championship to the 2025 World Championship, the Vietnamese figure Management Team has seen many Southeast Asian faces participate, achieving good expertise. They will definitely be present at the 33rd SEA Games.
Some names include John Ivan Cruz (Philippines), Tikumporn Surintornta (Thailand), Amanda Yap (Singapore), Agung Suci Tantio Akbar, Muhammad Aprizal, Joseph Judah Hatoguan, Satria Tri Wira Yudha, Abiyu Raffi (Indonesia), Luqman Al-Hafiz Zulfa (Malaysia).
Coach Truong Minh Sang of the Vietnam figurehead Sports Team shared that Vietnamese athletes are very focused on preparing professionally to complete the assigned tasks, however, based on the content of the regulations at the 33rd SEA Games, the selection of athletes will have to be careful.
The 33rd SEA Games tools physique only organizes men's and women's singles. The Organizing Committee limits each country to register a maximum of 4 male and 3 female athletes. This limitation forces Vietnam to send the most outstanding athletes to participate in figure skating.
They are not allowed to make mistakes. Philippine media has just reported that the country's top player, Carlos Yulo, will not participate in the 33rd SEA Games. However, all are still possible because the 33rd SEA Games have not yet kicked off, so each country has its own tactical plan.
