Martial artist The Vietnamese wushu team won the first 2 gold medals at the 2025 World Championship held in Brazil.
Boxer Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy won the women's 56kg weight class (opposite) when defeating opponent Beatriz Silva (Brazil) with a score of 2-0 in the final match. The Vietnamese female player won a gold medal at the 2023 World Championship and this year successfully defended her championship title.
The Vietnamese wushu team continued to enter the next 2 women's finals but only won 1 more victory. Boxer Ngo Thi Phuong Nga competed in the women's 52kg weightlifting final, winning the gold medal after defeating Aparna (India) with a score of 2-0. Boxer Nguyen Thi Lan competed in the women's 48kg weightlifting final but lost to opponent Yuxia Du (China).
For the taolu (performance) events, the Vietnam Wushu Team won a bronze medal with the women's art performance of athlete Duong Thuy Vi. She was rated 9,746 points by the judges after finishing the performance.
On September 7, the 2025 World Championship will end after the final events take place. The Vietnamese wushu team with boxer Dinh Van Tam will participate in the men's 52kg weightlifting final against Jiaming Ou (China).
Before going to Brazil to compete, the Vietnamese wushu Team set a goal of winning at least 1 gold medal.
