Notably, all three of the West Asian team's strikers are national players, including Abdulaziz Masnoum, Qassem Al-Sharafi and Hamza Mahrous.
The trio have just joined the Yemen national team for the FIFA Days series in June 2025 against Bhutan and Lebanon in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. In particular, Hamza Mahrous was considered potential at the age of 19 but has become a regular choice in the national team's attack.
To prepare for the tournament, coach Amin Al Suneini and his team had time to practice in Marib city before going to Fujairah (UAE) for training and friendly matches. The results of these matches are kept secret to ensure professional factors.
In the list of qualifiers, U23 Yemen only has one player playing abroad, goalkeeper Muhammad Ramadan Shuey Jumaan, currently playing in Saudi Arabia. The rest of the squad is on the payroll of domestic clubs. Yemen media said that Al Suneini coach once wanted to call up 17-year-old talent Adel Abbas Qasem, but this player could not participate because he had to participate in the 2025 U20 West Asian tournament with the Yemen U20 team.
According to the plan, U23 Yemen will arrive in Hanoi on August 31 before moving to Phu Tho. In the group, the team will meet U23 Singapore on September 3, U23 Bangladesh on September 6 and U23 Vietnam on September 9.
