On the first day, the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Asian Triathlon Cup organized the duathlon (running, cycling, jogging) individual competition for men and women and aquaathlon (swimming, jogging) individual competition for men and women.
In the women's individual aquaathlon event, athlete Le Thi Nhu Quynh of host Vietnam won a gold medal when finishing first with a time of 18 minutes 20 seconds. The second place is athlete Jopson Mikele Katerina (Philippines, 18 minutes 28 seconds).
In the men's individual aquaathlon competition, Hoang Van Hai of host Vietnam won a gold medal with a time of 15 minutes 36 seconds. Vu Dinh Duan of Vietnam won a silver medal in this event, result 16 minutes 01 second.
In the men's individual duathlon competition, Vietnam's No. 1 male athlete Pham Tien San maintained his form to win a gold medal when reaching a time of 57 minutes 58 seconds. Finishing 2nd, receiving a silver medal, was athlete Lee Cooper (Australia) with a result of 58 minutes 03 seconds.
In the women's individual duathlon competition, athlete Nguyen Thi Thuy Van finished fastest with a time of 1 hour 04 minutes 39 seconds, while the runner-up was Le Thi Yen when she achieved a result of 1 hour 05 minutes 36 seconds.
The 2026 Asian Triathlon Cup attracts more than 130 athletes from 31 continental teams to participate. Athletes are allowed to compete in triathlon, duathlon and aquaathlon events.
This year, along with the 2026 Asian Triathlon Cup, the Vietnam Triathlon Federation also organizes the 2026 National Club Triathlon Championship. The events of the 2 tournaments will last until May 18.
