Vietnamese fighter Quang Le made history with his first victory in the UFC, defeating Gaston Bolanos with a back-end lock.

Boxer Quang "Bang" Le topped the rankings at the UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs figureiredo event on the morning of May 4 in the US. He met Gaston "Dreamkiller" Bolanos from Peru.

Although considered inferior to his opponent in terms of strength and experience in UFC, Quang Le surprisingly won with a rear-naked choke.

Knowing that his opponent was strong in standing, Quang Le changed his tactics, used more ground fighting and tried to put Bolanos on the floor. In the 1 minute and 54 seconds of the second half, Quang Le knocked Gaston unconscious with his rear-end locking technique.

This was his first victory in the UFC. Quang Le is also the first boxer with 100% Vietnamese blood to win the most prestigious mixed martial arts tournament on the planet.

In the previous 2 matches on the stage, the Bien Hoa fighter lost to Chris Gutierrez and Long Xiao.

After the match, he shared his feelings of happiness: "This victory is like a dream come true.

I have imagined this moment thousands of times, even though I will be interviewed after the match. It felt wonderful.

I was very scared and worried, because I really needed this victory. I sacrificed everything to get here, so this victory is of great significance to me".

With his impressive performance, Quang Le received the "Performance of the Night" award and a prize of 50,000 USD.

Quang Le was born in 1991 in Bien Hoa, Dong Nai, Vietnam. After settling in the US, he began studying traditional martial arts from martial artist Xuan Phuoc of Tay Son Bac Phai.

He was first signed by UFC to play officially and on the stage at the UFC on ESPN 61 event on August 11, 2024.
