According to the announcement of the ASIAD 20 Organizing Committee, indoor volleyball has 32 teams (16 men's teams, 16 women's teams) registered to participate.
Notably, Vietnamese volleyball has registered to participate in both men's volleyball teams and women's volleyball teams at this Congress.
The list of 16 women's teams expected to participate in ASIAD 20 are Japan (host), Kazakhstan, Iran, China, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Qatar, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), Mongolia, DPRK, Philippines and Vietnam.

Volleyball is expected to hold a professional draw ceremony in July this year. At ASIAD 19, the men's championship is for Iran and the women's championship is for China.
According to the plan, countries participating in ASIAD 20 will have to register preliminary lists with the Organizing Committee in June before proceeding to the time of registering the final official list.
Previously, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation said that it had developed a plan to propose the sports sector to participate in 4 teams (men's and women's indoor volleyball and men's and women's beach volleyball) at ASIAD 20. ASIAD 20 will be held from September 19 to October 4 in Japan.
According to regulations, each indoor volleyball team participating in ASIAD 20 is only allowed to register a maximum of 12 players. This regulation is also implemented at ASIAD 19.
