At 7:30 PM on July 17, world oil prices simultaneously increased. WTI oil price was at 80.94 USD/barrel, up 1.99 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 2.52%. Brent oil was at 86.20 USD/barrel, up 1.97 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 2.34%.
World oil prices rebounded in the trading session on July 17 after the US and Iran continued to expand military operations in the Middle East, raising concerns about supply security.
Factors causing oil prices to rise due to the escalating US-Iran conflict. The US conducted a large-scale air strike for the sixth consecutive day targeting Iranian military targets, while Tehran responded with missiles and drones targeting US military bases in the region. In addition, the risk of supply disruption in Hormuz, the ceasefire agreement reached last month is almost ineffective, causing oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz to continue to be limited.
The selling prices of popular consumer gasoline and oil items on the market on June 17 are as follows:
- E5RON92 gasoline: not higher than 19,826 VND/liter, lower than E10RON95-III gasoline by 724 VND/liter;
- E10RON95-III gasoline: not higher than 20,550 VND/liter;
- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 23,329 VND/liter;
- 180CST 3.5S mazut oil: not higher than 14,459 VND/kg.
