On July 17, information from Tuyen Quang Provincial Police, after information reflecting the case of a car driver not giving way to an ambulance appeared, units urgently verified and clarified the entire diễn biến of the incident.
Accordingly, on July 15, Meo Vac General Hospital transferred emergency patient L.S. V (born 1977) from Meo Vac to Ha Giang General Hospital by ambulance with license plate 23M-000.15.
When arriving at Km93 National Highway 4C, Yen Minh commune, the ambulance turned on the lights, priority horn and asked to overtake car BKS 23A-093. 14.
However, the driver did not yield immediately but only yielded after about 4-5 minutes (equivalent to a distance of about 2 km).
According to information from the health agency and representatives of the patient's family, after bypassing the car for about 10 minutes, the patient's condition deteriorated very badly.
The emergency team contacted hospital leaders and was directed to continue emergency treatment, and at the same time informed the family.
The patient's family agreed not to continue transferring patients but to bring the patient back to Meo Vac.
During the process of returning home, the patient died. Thus, the patient died because the condition was too severe, not because the car did not yield the way.
Based on the results of the inspection and verification, Tuyen Quang Provincial Police have sufficient grounds to determine that the car driver, Mr. Nguyen Tien D. (born 1970, residing in Quyet Tam village, Dong Van commune) had the act of not giving way to priority vehicles, with a fine of 6 - 8 million VND and deducting 4 points from the driver's license.
Previously, as Lao Dong newspaper reported, on July 15, a video was spread on social networks recording the scene of a 7-seater car showing signs of not giving way to an ambulance.
