On May 20, the domestic coffee market recorded a positive development when prices increased simultaneously in all regions.
Green coffee in Dak Lak and Gia Lai is being purchased at around 126,500 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Lam Dong - the area with the lowest price in the Central Highlands provinces - has also increased to 126,000 VND/kg. In Dak Nong, the price reached 126,700 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg.
Thus, domestic coffee prices have regained their upward momentum after falling to a 10-day low yesterday.
In the world market, Robusta coffee prices on the London exchange increased sharply. The July 2025 delivery period increased by 108 USD, to 4,973 USD/ton; the September period also increased by 102 USD, reaching 4,962 USD/ton. Long terms such as November and January 2026 increased by 93 - 95 USD/ton respectively.
Similarly, the New York Arabica exchange also reversed and increased strongly. July term skyrocketed to 374.70 cents/lb, up 9.05 cents; September term reached 371.45 cents/lb, up 8.95 cents.
The increase in coffee prices in the most recent session mainly came from technical purchasing power after a series of deep declines, as investors took advantage of low prices to buy again.
Meanwhile, Arabica prices recovered stronger than Robusta thanks to contract compensation and positive sentiment from the international financial market. However, supply pressure from Brazil still exists as the weather in the main growing areas continues to be favorable for harvest, creating certain pressure on coffee prices in the short term.
