Domestic coffee prices
On September 21, coffee prices in key Central Highlands regions remained unchanged compared to the closing price of the trading session on Friday.
Coffee prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong (old) were at 111,500 VND/kg.
In Gia Lai, coffee prices are 111,200 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, Lam Dong has the lowest price of 110,800 VND/kg.
After a week of fluctuations, domestic coffee prices have established a new price level. Compared to the price of about VND 114,900/kg in early September, the current price has decreased by about VND 3,500/kg, showing that the market is adjusting to a lower level after a sharp increase and decrease.
World coffee prices
World coffee prices remained at the closing price of the last trading session on September 20, when both Robusta and Arabica both plummeted.
Robusta's contract on the London exchange has fallen more than 7%, while Arabica's contract on the New York exchange has also lost more than 4%. This sharp decline has put great pressure on domestic coffee prices.
In the short term, downward pressure may continue. The sharp decline last weekend has created a worrying mentality and profit-taking activities can still take place when the market reopens. Prices may continue to test lower support levels.
In the long term, fundamental factors still support coffee prices. Global coffee inventories remain low, along with persistent concerns about weather and tariff policies in major producing countries. Therefore, if prices continue to fall sharply, this could be an opportunity for investors to have a long-term view of participating in the market.
