Domestic coffee prices
On August 31, 2025, domestic coffee prices increased slightly compared to the previous session. The average market reached 122,400 VND/kg, an increase of 100 VND. In Dak Lak, the price was recorded at 122,400 VND/kg; Gia Lai reached 122,100 VND/kg and Dak Nong (old) was 122,600 VND/kg, both up 100 VND. Lam Dong alone remains at 121,700 VND/kg.
World coffee prices
In the world market, robusta coffee prices in London fluctuated around 5,000 USD/ton. The September 2025 term contract decreased slightly by 7 USD to 5.001 USD/ton, while the longer terms had a recovery: November 2025 reached 4,815 USD/ton, January 2026 to 4,703 USD/ton, March 2026 at 4,623 USD/ton and May 2026 reached 4,566 USD/ton.
The price of arabica coffee on the New York exchange increased sharply after a series of sessions of decline. The September 2025 term contract increased to 396.85 cents/pound, up 9.10 cents; the December 2025 term reached 386.10 cents/pound, up 8.60 cents; the March, May and July 2026 terms also increased from 5.40 to 6.95 cents/pound.
This development shows that the international coffee market is showing signs of recovery, especially in the arabica group, while robusta is still quite cautious. Domestic coffee prices therefore also increased slightly following the increase from the world market, but the adjustment level was not significant.
The current fluctuations stem from many overlapping factors. Since the beginning of August, the US has imposed a 50% tariff on imported coffee from Brazil, limiting US roasters and importers to sign new contracts with the country and forcing them to find alternative sources from Central America and Colombia at higher costs.
At the same time, Brazil's output in the 2025 crop year decreased by about 10% compared to the initial forecast, combined with the impact of price frost, increasing concerns about supply. These factors have pushed arabica prices up sharply in the past month, attracting speculative capital and making the market unpredictable.
In that context, although coffee prices in Vietnam have increased again, the adjustment is still cautious, reflecting the reservations of buyers in the face of instability in the international market.
