Long terms unexpectedly reversed and decreased by 50 - 70 USD/ton in today's trading session, equivalent to 1.09% - 1.44%.
moving in a alternating up and down trend, Arabica on the New York exchange reversed continuously. The September 2025 contract was traded at 387.85 cents/lb, down 6.05 cents. Other terms also decreased by 6 - 7.8 cents/lb, equivalent to 1.7% - 2.02%.
Coffee prices fell sharply from a 3.5-month high and closed significantly lower. Profit-taking pressure caused coffee prices to plummet after JM Smucker Co. - one of the largest coffee producers and distributors in the United States has announced that it will continue to increase coffee prices to offset higher taxes. This raises concerns that rising retail prices will reduce coffee consumption demand.
Pressure from the Brazilian crop season also created a factor of price decline. In the downward direction, the World Coffee Organization (ICO) reported on August 6 that global coffee exports in June increased by 7.3% over the same period, reaching 11.69 million bags. However, accumulated exports from October to June decreased by 0.2% over the same period, to 104.14 million bags.
