Causes and predictions
According to representatives of livestock companies, although not yet entering peak consumption seasons such as holidays and Tet, due to the impact of African swine fever in the last months of 2024, supply is lacking. Therefore, on the occasion of the upcoming April 30 - May 1, the price of live pigs is forecast to continue to increase.
The Economic Development and Cooperation Organization (OECD) forecasts that pork consumption in Vietnam in 2025 could reach 4 million tons, an increase of 3.3% over the previous year. However, the epidemic has not been completely controlled and the high cost of herding can create many challenges for domestic supply.
