Thanh Bình |

Many areas in Hanoi are still flooded, the price of green vegetables at traditional markets is "dancing". The reason is that after Typhoon Bualoi, supply is scarce.

According to the survey, green vegetables in many traditional markets have increased simultaneously, the number of damaged vegetables and waterlogged after a day of deep flooding, affected by storm No. 10 Bualoi. Some leafy vegetables such as water spinach, sweet cabbage, spinach are nearly double the price, up to 20,000 VND/bunch or 25,000 - 30,000 VND/kg.

Recorded at Nam Trung Yen market (Hanoi), people had difficulty moving when the outside was still submerged in water. Traders selling all items imported in small quantities, expected to sell within half a day.

Ms. Do Thi Chinh - a vegetable trader at Nam Trung Yen market said: "The rows are all broken and the flood is so high that the purchase price has increased, there are not even many types of vegetables to sell, now there are only water spinach and mustard greens, raw vegetables are from 4,000 VND/tael".

Another vegetable seller at the market said: "If anyone in the market today imports more, they sell it together, it rains, there are no vegetables to sell, the price is double that of normal days".

The trader also shared: "The daily import price for vegetables is only from 12,000 VND/bunch, but today it is up to 18,000 - 20,000 VND/bunch. For example, the amount of water spinach sold today is 18,000 VND/bunch, sweet cabbage 25,000 VND/bunch".

Having difficulty moving to the market, Ms. Phung Thi Van - a trader at the market shared: "Today there is no vegetable to sell, mustard greens are 40,000 VND/kg, Malabar spinach is 20,000 VND/bowl, water spinach is 17,000 VND/bowl, cauliflower is 5,000 VND/bunch. To get the goods to the market to sell, the couple had to rent a motorbike taxi from My Dinh, for 80,000 VND, but had few vegetables like this. Many people coming to the market gate had to abandon their vehicles and buy vegetables because of the flooding".

Meanwhile, consumers are also surprised because vegetable prices fluctuated strongly after only 1 day. Ms. Vu Kim Lien (Cau Giay, Hanoi) does not have many options when buying vegetables: "Today's vegetables are more expensive than usual, my sister even prepared food 2 days ago for the whole week, worried that the price will increase. I was afraid that the vegetables would spoil if left for a long time, so I went to buy them and they were too expensive."

The prices of the items are still stable, pork belly is only 150,000 VND/kg, shoulder meat is 100,000 VND/kg, ribs are 70,000 VND/kg".
