Green vegetables increase in price at traditional markets
On the morning of September 30, at Ba Chieu market (Binh Thanh district), sweet mustard greens were sold for 35,000-40,000 VND/kg, an increase of about 10,000-15,000 VND/kg compared to last week; lettuce for 42,000 VND/kg. Water spinach, sweet potato leaves, and amaranth also increased by 15,000-30,000 VND/kg. Spiciness groups such as green onions, Vietnamese coriander, and mustard greens increased by 5,000-10,000 VND/bunch.
Ms. Dang Thi Hai, a vegetable seller at the market, shared: "It has been raining a lot in the past few days, the vegetable trucks from gardeners have been slow to return, and the vegetables have been damaged a lot. I import less but the wholesale price has increased, so I have to sell more, but the profit is not much".

Consumers are also under spending pressure. Ms. Tran Thu Trang (Hoa Hung ward) said: "My family eats vegetables every day, now the cost is calculated to increase by nearly a hundred thousand per week. I have to switch to buying pumpkin and eggplant because the price is more stable".
According to records, in addition to the increase in prices of green vegetables, fresh fish, seafood, and pork products at many traditional markets still remain stable.
Supermarket stabilizes, increases inventories of goods
In contrast to traditional markets, in the large supermarket system, the supply of vegetables, fruits and essential foods is still stable. A representative of MM Mega Market Vietnam said that centers in the storm-affected areas have been prepared to reserve goods, especially dry food, drinking water, vegetables, meat and fish. At the same time, the company reinforced facilities, arranged goods to high-altitude areas, and trained staff on emergency evacuation plans.
A representative of Saigon Co.op said that more than 800 points of sale have become satellite warehouses, coordinating with distribution centers to regulate goods sources. Goods are being increased from both the South and the North, continuously supporting the Central region.
In parallel with ensuring supply, Saigon Co.op has implemented a subsidy program: vegetable and fruit groups reduced by 15-20%; pork, chicken, shrimp, eggs reduced by an average of 10%; convenient items such as instant noodles, sausages, canned goods reduced by 40% with incentives of "buy 1 get 1", "buy 2 get 1".
