Assessments and forecasts
The Middle East region consumes about 18% of the total export volume of enterprises and about 17.5% of the export output of the entire Vietnamese pepper industry. If this market is temporarily disrupted, consumption demand will decrease significantly, which may put downward pressure on pepper prices in the short term.
Faced with unpredictable geopolitical fluctuations, the Import-Export Department recommends that businesses proactively diversify markets, take advantage of FTAs to expand exports to areas with more stable demand, and regularly update information on transportation, freight rates and geopolitical fluctuations to proactively develop response plans.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Plant Association (VPSA), Vietnam's pepper production in 2026 is expected to decrease by about 15-20% compared to 2025 and the estimated output for the whole year is about 165,000 tons. This leads to global inventory also falling to a low level in recent years.
