Domestic pepper prices: Deep decrease
As of 11:30 today (10.), the domestic pepper market recorded a price decrease of 1,000 - 4,000 VND/kg, an average decrease of 2,500 VND/kg.
Pepper prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong both fell sharply by VND4,000, currently trading around VND151,000/kg.
Provinces such as Gia Lai and Binh Phuoc have decreased by VND 2,000 and VND 1,500, respectively, bringing the purchase price down to VND 151,000 - 151,500/kg.
In particular, Ba Ria - Vung Tau rose to the top with the highest price in the group of 152,000 VND/kg, down slightly by 1,000 VND.

World pepper prices: Indonesia slightly adjusts, other markets are stable
In the world market, consumer prices generally continue to maintain a stable state. In Indonesia alone, black pepper prices decreased slightly by 0.2%, down to 7.323 USD/ton (equivalent to 191.424 VND/kg); white pepper also decreased by 0.21%, down to 9,918 USD/ton (about 259,257 VND/kg).
In Vietnam, the export price of black pepper of 500 g/l and 550 g/l remains unchanged at 6,700 - 6,800 USD/ton (equivalent to 175,138 - 177,752 VND/kg). ASTA white pepper prices also remain unchanged, at 9,700 USD/ton (about 253,558 VND/kg).
In the same direction, other markets such as Brazil and Malaysia did not record any fluctuations. Malaysia's white rice continues to hold the highest price globally at 11,900 USD/ton (equivalent to 311,066 VND/kg).

Assessment and forecast
After the US announced the counterpart tax, the Vietnamese pepper market is facing price competition with pepper from Brazil and Indonesia because their counterpart tax rates are lower. This is a big challenge that Vietnamese pepper has to face in the long term.
In the context of volatile trade, Vietnamese export enterprises have also proactively diversified markets to reduce dependence on a few traditional partners.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), pepper exports in the first months of 2025 decreased in volume but increased sharply in value thanks to increased export prices, showing the proactiveness of market diversification and search for new customers in other markets such as Europe, Asia, the Middle East, ... of Vietnamese enterprises.
