Assessment and forecast
After a series of strong increases at the beginning of the month, pepper purchasing prices fluctuated between 140,000 - 142,000 VND/kg. This is still a high price over the past year, reflecting the tightening of supply in the context of stable export demand.
In terms of supply, the pepper harvest in Vietnam has basically ended, and domestic collection output is no longer abundant.
Meanwhile, demand is still quite positive as many markets such as the Middle East, India, the US and Europe continue to boost imports to serve year-end demand and hoarding. This activity took place in the context of concerns about a shortage of goods from Indonesia, which is also entering the final stage of the crop.
