Assessments and forecasts
Pepper prices ended the week in 4 consecutive days of maintaining the price range, the current highest price exceeding 140,000 VND/kg. The domestic market has officially closed the 2026 harvest with an output of 155,000 tons. However, concerns about supply for the next crop are beginning to appear.
A report from Nedspice indicates that uneven rainfall distribution combined with prolonged high temperatures has caused the phenomenon of flowering, and at the same time caused the flowering process of the 2027 pepper crop to take place unevenly, negatively affecting the ability of pepper trees to bear fruit early. To date, Vietnam's 2027 crop has only been affected to a moderate extent, but weather diễn biến still needs to be closely monitored.
Although the current market is in a balanced state, without major fluctuations, analysts warn of major risks to crop supply from the El Nino phenomenon. It is forecast that El Nino will have the strongest impact on crop areas serving the 2027 harvest season from December onwards.
