Assessment and forecast
World pepper prices in early June in most key countries decreased. In particular, the exchange in Indonesia has continuously increased.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), April is the period when the spice market in general and pepper in particular are the busiest of the year. However, this year, the world pepper market is sluggish as trade tensions increase. Low import demand from many countries and unclear tariffs make businesses cautious when signing contracts.
In the short term, domestic pepper prices are forecast to stabilize or decrease slightly due to unstable export demand and tight supply.
