Domestic pepper prices
Today (September 13), domestic pepper prices traded in the range of 137,000 - 141,000 VND/kg, an average increase of 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg.
At the end of last week, Gia Lai and Dong Nai both increased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to the closing session last week, anchored at the threshold of 137,000 VND/kg.
Ho Chi Minh City recorded a stronger increase of 2,500 VND/kg, listed at the price range of 137,500 VND/kg.
Following the same developments, Dak Lak increased by 3,500 VND/kg, reaching 140,000 VND/kg.
Lam Dong province is currently offering for sale to the market at the highest price of 141,000 VND/kg, an increase of at least 2,000 VND/kg.
After 2 consecutive weeks of no adjustment, domestic pepper prices had a week of strong increase, exceeding the 140,000 VND/kg mark.
World pepper price
According to data from the International Pepper Corporation (IPC), pepper prices last week increased and decreased alternately.
Indonesian black pepper prices are currently anchored at 6,939 USD/ton, up 9 USD/ton compared to the previous week. In the same direction, Indonesian white pepper prices increased by another 13 USD/ton last week, to 9,500 USD/ton.
Meanwhile, the price of black pepper ASTA 570 of Brazil remained unchanged at 5,750 USD/ton compared to last week.
Similarly, Malaysian black and white peppers still maintained stability at 9,300 USD/ton and 12,200 USD/ton in the past week.
In Vietnam, the export pepper market remains unchanged with black pepper prices of 500 g/l and 550 g/l trading at 5,990 - 6,050 USD/ton. ASTA white pepper price offered for sale at 8,400 USD/ton (equivalent to 219,828 VND/kg).
Assessments and forecasts
Although the pepper market in key domestic growing areas continues the series of sideways days, compared to the time 2 weeks ago, the price range has fluctuated, trading around 137,000 - 141,000 VND/kg.
In the same direction, the international market just recorded an upward momentum at the end of the week, especially the Indonesian international exchange.
According to preliminary data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), Vietnam's pepper trade activity in August 2026 slowed down compared to the previous month. Specifically, exports in August reached 21,724 tons with a turnover of 140.9 million USD, down 4.5% in volume and 4.3% in value compared to July 2026. However, compared to the same period in August 2025, export volume still maintained a slight increase of 1.2%.
In the opposite direction, Vietnam imported 2,883 tons of pepper in August 2026 (including 2,636 tons of black pepper and 247 tons of white pepper), reaching a turnover of 18 million USD. Compared to July 2026, down 14.1% in volume and down 10.2% in value.
In general, accumulated in the first 8 months of 2026, Vietnam's pepper export turnover officially reached the milestone of 1.2 billion USD with a total volume of 190,153 tons. Compared to the same period in 2025, exports increased by 14.2% in volume (equivalent to an increase of 23,643 tons) and increased by 8.9% in value. In terms of unit prices, the average export price of black pepper reached 6,372 USD/ton (down 4.4% compared to the same period) and white pepper reached 8,386 USD/ton (down 4%).
